Measure the old glass spline and replace it if it is too rough. In storm doors the glass of the windows is separated from the door frame by a glazing spline. Pull the broken glass from the frame along with the rubber seal that folds over its edge. A glass repair will often be easier to do if you remove the sash.

In addition to corner keys you may need to replace sliding locks sash hangers and pull tabs. The weatherstripping often compresses or comes out. For the top window insert the top corners into the track and lower the insert line up to the finger pull with the notch on the frame. Use a spline roller to replace it with new weatherstripping.

A double pane window may tend to fog if moisture gets between its layers and a plastic pane will yellow over time. Use a screwdriver or putty knife to pry out the vinyl spline.

This way you can lay it flat and work on replacing the window glass. Slip the glass with the seal into the groove in the frame pressing the side pieces back into position and resetting the top piece. Replace the corner pins. The spline forms the seal between the metal and the glass.

Install the rubber seal around the edges of the new pane. Be patient you want to reuse the spline so don t rush it. The spline is according to the thickness of the glass.
